Asking for & offering community help

The community-needs board is at /needs. It's where neighbors ask for practical help and the rest of the community steps up.

The 12 categories

Pick whichever fits best when you post: 🍞 Food · 👕 Clothes · 📚 School supplies · 🚗 Transport · 🏠 Housing · 🏥 Medical · 🪑 Household · 👶 Childcare · 🐾 Pet care · 💻 Technology · 💼 Jobs · ❓ Other. Each appears as a colored badge on the listing so people can scan by what they can offer.

Urgency flag

Mark requests low / normal / 🚨 urgent. Urgent posts get a red border on the index so they catch attention.

Location

The "general location" field is intentionally vague — neighborhood or city, not your street address. Use the private follow-up to share specifics with verified helpers.

Two ways to respond

• Quick reactions (📢 Sharing / 💛 Care / 🙏 Praying / 🔁 Boosting) — one-click solidarity.
• "I can help" button — for serious offers. Attach a short message ("I have boys' size 6 winter coats — when can I drop them off?") and the requester gets notified. You're added to their private helper roster; you can withdraw anytime.

When the need is met

The requester clicks Mark fulfilled ✓ on their own post. The card moves to the "Fulfilled" tab and helper offers are no longer accepted. You can reopen it if circumstances change.

How points work

Posting a need earns +4. Offering serious help (clicking "I can help") earns +5. See leaderboard points.
